Thank you for visiting the Department of Veterans Services. The mission of the Ludlow Veterans' Service office is to advocate on behalf of all Ludlow veterans and provide them with quality support services, and to direct an emergency financial assistance program for those veterans and their dependents in need.
Massachusetts is the only State in the country to dedicate a program of services to its' resident, eligible, veteran population. In accordance with Massachusetts General Law, MGL Chapter 115, each city and town in the Commonwealth is represented by a resident Veterans Service Officer also known as a Veterans' Agent. Smaller communities are combined into a district and administered accordingly.
The local Veterans’ Service Department is a ONE STOP center for veterans and the dependents of veterans and in addition to the duties to aid, assist, and advise, as stated in Chapter 115, Mass. General Law, the Agents and Directors counsel, file claims and explore every avenue of resources and revenue available to the veteran and their dependents.
The Veterans Services Department is launching a Food Pantry for those in need. Food insecurity has been one of the biggest issue facing our veterans’ population in recent years, says Eric Segundo, Director of Veterans Services in Ludlow. This is another resource to support our veterans and their families.
The Pantry will temporary be set up in the 1st floor conference room at Town Hall and will be open every Friday from 10am-2pm. Veterans, widow/widower of veteran should contact the Veterans Department at 413-583-5600 x1291 to sign up or for more information. No appointment needed.
We are also seeking help from the community for donations of non-perishable unexpired, unopened food items to help fill their shelves.
Items such as Canned soup, Canned fruit, Canned vegetables, Canned Stew and Chili, Tuna Fish, Canned Chicken, Canned Meat (Spam and Ham), Canned beans, Pasta, Rice, (White or Brown), Whole grain breakfast cereals, Pasta sauce and canned tomatoes, Cooking Oils, Crackers, Instant Mashed Potatoes, Breakfast Bars, non-refrigerated Milks, Ketchup, Mustard, Olive Oil, Bottled Salad Dressings, and Jam/Jelly.
